About

THE CHAIN: Recognising and Responding to Domestic Abuse in the Workplace (12 CPD hours) Domestic abuse does not always remain at home. It can affect a person’s safety, wellbeing, attendance, performance and relationships at work. Colleagues and managers may notice that something is wrong but feel unsure about what to say, how to respond or where to find appropriate support. THE CHAIN is an accessible online awareness course designed to help people recognise the possible signs of domestic abuse and respond safely, sensitively and appropriately within the workplace. The course explores different forms of domestic abuse, including physical, emotional, psychological, sexual, financial and technology-facilitated abuse. It also considers coercive and controlling behaviour, workplace warning signs, barriers to disclosure and the reasons someone may not feel able to leave an abusive relationship. Learners will develop an understanding of: How domestic abuse may affect someone at work Possible signs that a colleague or employee may need support How to begin a sensitive and appropriate conversation How to listen without judging, blaming or pressuring The importance of confidentiality and its limits Workplace safety planning and practical adjustments The responsibilities of employees, managers and employers When safeguarding or emergency action may be required How to signpost someone to specialist support services Relevant workplace legislation, guidance and good practice The course is suitable for employees, managers, supervisors, HR professionals, business owners, safeguarding leads and anyone responsible for staff welfare or wellbeing. No previous knowledge is required.
